On Wednesday 13th September, Gaucho Cardiff threw a star-studded party to celebrate the opening of its first restaurant in Wales, in the heart of the city’s historic St David’s Centre. Already a firm favourite of sporting heroes, Gaucho Cardiff was joined by Lawrence Dallaglio and Jamie Roberts for the opening with Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers for a night of tango with Becky Tong on the DJ decks.
Landing on Welsh soil for the first time in its thirty-year history, the restaurant launch saw queues forming down the street from 7:00pm, with guests being greeted by tantalising tango dancers. Guests dined on the restaurant’s signature sustainable steaks, shows-topping South American canapés and bowl food whilst sipping on cocktails including the Citrus Negroni, a Clean Paloma and the standout Amber Noir, crafted using Welsh gin, Hensol Castle, a traditional copper pot London Dry gin.
Home to the second largest community of Welsh speakers outside of Wales, Argentina has always been kindred spirits with the region and the celebration of the modern Argentine steakhouse’s official launch night was the perfect introduction to the city, providing a taster of what diners can expect from the latest Gaucho opening.
