If you’ve eaten at one of our restaurants this week, you may have noticed an exciting new addition to our A La Carte menus. Introducing Sustainable Steaks, a brand-new initiative inviting our green-conscious guests to join us in the battle to fight climate change and become an all-sustainable restaurant business.
Aware of our footprint on the planet and the high environmental impact of beef production, we’re committed to addressing the issue by aiming to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030. We have begun this process by investing in reforestation and offsetting projects in South America with our anti-slavery charity partner, Not For Sale. In 2021 we planted over 4,000 trees which will offset over 1,400 tonnes of carbon emissions across their lifetime – and we’re not stopping there!
The beef offering at Gaucho Glasgow and Charlottte Street will be 100% carbon neutral – and now we’re also offering a zero-carbon steak option at all other Gaucho restaurants. Yes that’s right… Our Lomo Verde is 100% carbon neutral and guilt free! And finally guests can also opt in to top any steak with a tree for £2, which will go towards planting tree saplings in new reforestation projects, which both we and our beef supplier invest in.
