Pull up a stool at our sweeping centrepiece bar, watch as our open kitchen prepares signature steaks and colourful plates imprinted by the flame, tuck yourself into a mezzanine booth with a loved one and experience the warmth and hospitality of Latin America. Here at Gaucho, the art of flame cooking, expertly mixed cocktails and free-flowing conversation recalls sultry nights in Buenos Aires and the pleasure of gathering to share food. Join us for dinner, post-work cocktails, lunches with friends or private celebrations.
Our Grade II listed restaurant in historic Newcastle, the birthplace of the golden age of coal, iron and steam, is sited on the same street that once housed the city’s first department store. A former bank, with an original vault downstairs, as well as a series of hidden tunnels, the space now houses treasure of another kind: the elemental power of flame cooking. Our specialty is pure-bred beef, just as our namesake, Argentina’s revered Gaucho, would treat it, whether rump, ribeye or marinated. Complementing our signature dishes are flavour-led plates that tip their hat to the ingredients of Peru, Chile and Brazil.
