On World Environment Day we are delighted to announce our involvement in the Better Business Act Coalition (BBA), an agreement that pledges to focus on aligning the interests of stakeholders with those of wider society and the planet. Put simply, this means ensuring that our businesses join hundreds of others, to pledge to take responsibility to protect the world we live in.
The BBA is targeting every single company in the UK – big or small – to align their interests. Gaucho and M restaurants (along with Kricket and the Conduit Club) are the first in our sector to join businesses across all industries to call for a straightforward legislative solution: to amend section 172 of The Companies Act to ensure that company directors are responsible for aligning interests.
Whilst there are a range of fantastic brands already part of the BBA, we think the hospitality industry can pro-actively join and lead this movement for the greater good. That’s why M Founder and Gaucho CEO Martin Williams has teamed up with Joel Williams MD of the Conduit Club and Rik Campbell Co-Founder of Kricket to encourage all leaders in the hospitality to join this movement.
Our Impact Strategy commits to a vision that considers both society and our planet, as we remain aware of our footprint on earth and our ability to impact society for greater good.
The Gaucho and M Manifesto pledges to:
· Invest in our ambition
· Using B Corp and SRA standards and membership to measure our performance
· A commitment to Ethical and Inclusive Leadership
· Partnership with the ‘Not For Sale’ movement
· Balancing our carbon imprint to reach ‘net zero’
· To offer a sustainable menu offering Including ‘carbon positive serves’ and Carbon Free Beef
